The 4X Rule

If you’ve never played Civilization before, then you need a little explanation. The game follows the 4X rule, which is Explore, Expand, Exploit, and Exterminate. You start in a virtually undiscovered world, with just one settler and a few other scouting or military units. From there, you settle in a city, build buildings and districts within the boundary, create more units, more towns, and so on. While developing your city, you have to research technology, maintain a large army, and possibly create a religion.

There are six ways to win in Civilization VI. You must establish a colony on Mars (Science), attract more tourists than any other empire (Culture), conquer the capital of every other civilization (Domination), spread your religion until it is the dominant belief in every empire (Religion), or simply has a better score than all others by the time the game is over (Score). The Gathering Storm expansion adds another winning method: Diplomacy, where you gain a certain number of points through World Congress.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is an extremely complex strategy game. It is even more complex than its predecessors in the series. In addition to controlling the army, the PC version requires players to regularly review and interact between statistics pages with massive amounts of information. However, on the mobile version with a much smaller screen size, it is difficult for you to update information constantly. This can be considered one of the rare limitations of this Android version.

From the player’s perspective, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI has made a big difference in the player’s strategy. However, the biggest difficulty is still the tactics that you use to achieve the end result. Every choice depends on your method and has its consequences.

For example, wasting a few turns on “wrong” decisions can put your civilization behind other nations. This is clearly unexpected in any circumstance. The problem is, there’s no right or wrong in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. Even making pacts with other civilizations is all just for the sake of your own country. The situation can change a lot with just a tiny miscalculation. This has resulted in the game having very high replayability and in-depth experience.

Likewise, the religious issue is realistically reflected, such as potential religious conflicts and their consequences. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI events have been more unpredictable, providing different experiences with each replay. The gameplay is also more extensive. For example, placing districts in suitable locations and terrain will bring a better advantage. This is also a new strategic factor compared to the old versions, requiring you to consider when building the city.

Audio and Graphics

Besides gameplay with more engaging mechanics, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI also has many commendable graphics improvements. Not only nicer than previous versions, the characters in this 6th version are also more detailed with smoother movements. Although the image quality on Android is not as good as on the PC, the control is not much different. The background music is also a big plus, with each civilization having its own song.
